Mexico’s first official appearance in the Women’s World Cup was in 1999, when the United States hosted the tournament. To participate in each world cup, teams had to qualify. Mexico faced Peru, Argentina, and South Africa en route to the 1971 edition. In 2018 Mexico won the Central American and Caribbean Games by defeating Costa Rica 3-1 in the final. Mexico was placed in Group A along with Italy and Japan, usmnt jersey 2024-25 but the team did not advance beyond the first stage. The team accomplished this by placing second to Canada in the 1998 CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
